CRUISE ON THE OCEANIA NAUTICA

MAY 22-JUNE 3, 2011

 The Nautica

My sister, Susan and I just returned from a fabulous cruise on the OCEANIA NAUTICA of OCEANIA CRUISES entitled “Jewels of the Aegean”.  It certainly lived up to its name.

The ports were Istanbul (overnight) and Kusadasi (for Ephesus) in Turkey; Chios, Pireaus (for Athens and Cape Sounion), Zakynthos, Itea (for Delphi) and Corfu – all in Greece; Kotor (Montenegro); Dubrovnik (Croatia); Koper (Slovenia) and ending in beautiful Venice (overnight).

A wonderful itinerary with spectacular scenery.

 Grand Dining Room
The ship only carries up to 684 passengers with 400 crew members. Dining is anytime you want, with several alternative dining venues to choose from with no additional charges.  The food was varied and excellent from breakfast to lunch to dinner.

The entertainment was very good, too.  From their own singers and dancers, who did several production shows, to a classical pianist, an opera singer and a country singer/comedian.  Very entertaining and the show lounge was full each evening.  As an added bonus, the cruise director was Willie Aames, who was the child star on Eight is Enough and Charles in Charge.  A very personable and entertaining guy, who certainly kept things going.

The water was the calmest I have ever seen for the entire voyage, and the beds were the most comfortable that I have ever slept on.  Oceanie - Veranda Cabin

To top off our trip, we had a fabulous seafood lunch in Venice on the canal just next to the Rialto Bridge, where the Gondolas were parked.  Our charming waiter, Stefano, took a photo of us, while we were waiting for our lunch.  A perfect end to a perfect trip.

In all, a wonderful experience and one that I would highly recommend.
