We left for a long weekend in Nassau on Thursday afternoon, non-stop from Ft Lauderdale to the new airport terminal just opened a few months ago. The terminal is beautiful, modern, clean and efficient. Unfortunately until they complete the work on the new customs area it is also about a mile walk to the old terminal where you pass through customs and get your bags.

Once we had our bag we went to the Breezes desk right outside of the luggage area and were given our arrival form for check in and directed to where our shuttle (included) to the hotel was waiting.

The ride from the airport to the hotel took only 15 minutes and our driver kept us entertained the entire way.  American woman are too skinny and the construction plans for Cable Beach!

Check-in was pleasant and fast and the entrance and open air lobby were impressive and spotless.

While the hotel is older, it has been maintained nicely, with fresh paint and redone bathrooms.  They spent $125 million redoing it completely in the 90’s.

We had upgraded to an oceanfront room and were given one on the third floor.  This was truly oceanfront! The far wall was all glass and looked out over palm trees to the water only yards away. All rooms above the ground floor have French Balconies, maybe 8 inches wide.

The view was wonderful but, the following morning we asked for, and received, a change to a ground floor room.  This room had a sliding door that led directly to our own little beach area with lounge chairs and a table.  We didn’t move much after that!

Breezes is a simple all-inclusive, two optional restaurants, poolside grill and a buffet. The food is good and plentiful with a nice variety available at the buffet, breakfast was my favorite.  There are Bahamian specialties every meal.

The two main bars, one is off the lobby and the other is poolside with a swim up area. There are game areas off the lobby as well, a half dozen pool tables, some ping pong table and an area for cards or board games.

The pool is literally the center of the hotel which is U shaped.  The bar and grill are open until 6:30, when the buffet opens for dinner. The grill has the best conch fritters I’ve ever had as well as the normal burgers, hotdogs and salads.

Also included were the use of snorkeling equipment, small catamarans and water skiing. During the two and a half days there we also saw at least ten weddings, the basic wedding is included with the room!

Departure was made easy by clearing customs, the only other country to do this is Ireland. This means that when your flight lands you just claim your bag and leave!
